Photo Session Guide
How to prepare and what to expect on the day of your photo session.
What to wear
- Bright, solid colors photograph well. Avoid busy prints.
- Don’t wear large/visible logos or branded apparel other than WashU or WashU Medicine.
In the clinic
- Faculty: Wear your WashU Medicine white coat.
- Residents, fellows and students: Wear a white coat, if applicable.
- Other personnel: Wear your standard clinical attire.
- For exams and procedures, wear all required protective equipment — goggles, masks, gloves, etc.
In the lab
- Wear a lab coat.
- Wear all required protective equipment — goggles, gloves, etc. View requirements.
Before and during the session
- Before, we may arrange lights, perform test shots, etc.
- During, a variety of settings and poses may be photographed. We welcome your ideas for active, engaging images.
- We appreciate your patience and cooperation during the session.
After the session
- WashU Medicine Marketing & Communications staff will select the optimal photos based on the goals.
- Photos will be color-balanced, may receive minimal retouching and may be modified for artistic reasons.
Publication and usage
- Select images may be made available for use by you, your colleagues and the campus community.
- Let us know any restrictions on their usage.
